A note from Lauren Slade |
Since founding the Universal College of Reflexology, in 1991, I have developed over 2,500 hours of post graduate reflexology related courses. The most popular without a doubt was my "Reading the Feet", first developed over 18 years ago. Each course filled up so fast, there was usually a waiting list, which led to there being a "Reading the Feet" class being held several times each year.
But I realized that most people couldn't come to us to take this fascinating and enlightening course, so I have expanded it and put it in a form that anyone, any time in any place can use.
Introducing our New, On-line Course
"Reading the Feet"
With heartfelt thanks to all my very generous students who contributed their findings and feet during class time. They have culminated in the creation of an easy-to-learn on-line course "Reading the Feet", created for delivery through our virtual classroom. Look out for details below and also make sure you find the coupon code for the HUGE $300 Introductory Discount coupon below. Valid for the month of March only!

Do you have an elevator speech?
An elevator speech is a simple one minute explanation of what you do, who you do it for, the benefits of what you do concluding with why someone should hire your services.
Students enrolled in our monthly coaching program have been sending in great examples of their personal 1 minute introductions they have written from February’s Coaching Call. Our students have been excited that they now know exactly who:
• Their ideal client is.
• What that person is looking for.
• Perfecting their one minute introduction.
• How to tap into that group with extraordinary results.
All from following our simple FIVE STEP COACHING FORMULA.

PS In case you wondered – it’s called an elevator speech because you should be able to tell someone your business info in between 2 or 3 floors while riding the elevator before they get out.

Getting Stuff Done Cheap, Free Photographs and Call to Actions
Getting Stuff Done Cheap
Let me let you into one of my very favourite ways to get things done in my business.
It is a website called Fiverr and it is filled with ads listed by thousands of people willing to work for you for just five bucks! Sometimes there are little things you need done - these are not big jobs, but they need to get done and quite frankly they’re a bit of a hassle. Want help with any of these?
• Business card design?
• New logo?
• Illustrations drawn for brochures?
• Photoshop a photograph to make you look even better than you already do?
• Want help with your website?
• Install Wordpress?
• Create a website header or banner?
• Need articles written for your newsletter, website or blog?
• Have a press release you want distributed?
• Create an image?
You can get all of this and so much more done for just $5 each. Amazing huh?
One of the first places I go when I need something like this done is Fiverr.com. There are thousands of workers who are experts in their particular areas and who will do these little jobs for just five bucks!
It’s really simple to order these jobs.
1. Go to Fiverr.com.
2. Type the kind of job you need done in the search box
3. Sort the results by “Rating” (you’ll see the rating link near the top of the results
4. Take a look for customer reviews
5. Order your gig (you can pay via PayPal)
6. Keep an eye on your inbox for any special instructions and forward the info to the worker
There is no guarantee for these jobs. So what happens if the work doesn’t meet your expectations? Well… suck it up. It only cost five bucks to give it a try.
For the most part, the workers on the site have met my expectations and I’ve been delighted with the work I’ve had done.
No more excuses – as Nike would say “Just Do It!”
Finding Free Images for Your Website / Blog
Pictures like the one here will make your blog post look better. If you are linking to your blog post on Facebook, the image in your blog post will likely show up and draw more attention to your Facebook post.
Where do you get images?
Flickr comes highly recommended. Flickr is a great source for images that you can get for free. Some photos have restricted use, but for the most part most photos can be posted on your website or blog provided you acknowledge the source.
Here’s a great site to search for photos on Flickr: http://flickrhivemind.net/
When you find a picture you like, click on it and then take a look at the licensing rights in the right hand column.
You can click the licensing links to get details. By default, anyone who signs up for a Flickr account gives the right to use photos with attribution unless they change the settings in their account.
So next time you need an image and don’t want to pay for a stock photo, give Flickr a try.
PS Your attribution can look like this: Hand by yorkville on Flickr or simply a link like this: http://flic.kr/p/3UVxc.
Start beautifying your website today – you can’t beat the price – free!
Tell people what to do on your website
There is a really simple rule in all advertising where you want a response from the reader, whether that’s a print ad, classified, Yellow Page ad or even your website. The rule is this …
Ask the reader to do something.
In marketing books they call it a “call to action”. Whatever you want to call it, research says loud and clear that when you tell someone what to do they are much more likely to do it.
When it comes to your website, the conventional wisdom is to put this call to action at the top of the page or “above the fold” where it’s clearly visible without them having to scroll down the page. However, I’m an advocate for putting my call to action at the bottom of every page.
Why?
Because people need to find out a little about you and what you offer before they’ll take action. To do that they typically scroll down the page and read (or at least look at the pictures).
Hopefully by the time they’ve reached the bottom they appreciate your expertise and understand how you can help them.
So what’s the next logical thing that they should see?
Instructions for the action they need to talk to benefits from your product or service. So that’s the logical place to put a call to action. In a world where your competitor is only a mouse click away, if you make them work to get back up to the top of the page, they’ll likely forget why they are scrolling to the top of the page before they click anything.
Think like a customer. Put yourself in their shoes and go through your site like they would and do what makes sense.
In the case of your website, it just makes sense to put a call to action at the bottom of every page.
P.S. If you liked this newsletter you’re mostly likely to share it after you’ve just finished reading it; not before. Notice how I’ve put my Share this with Family and Friends buttons below. Can you see them? It makes sense to have them here, doesn’t it?
P.P.S. Implement this on your site and please share this newsletter with your friends and colleagues using the buttons below. (That’s my call to action.)

Reflexology Radio Program
Our exciting series of the Lauren Slade Show free podcast series continues.
Does Reflexology have any research studies to back it up? Yes It does! Reflexology research shows that systematic patterns of pressure technique application create specific changes in the body and its health.
Evidence found in research provides answers about two issues: 1) what results can be obtained through reflexology work and 2) how to get results with reflexology.
Listen to Lauren’s latest podcast as she explodes the myth that there is no research behind Reflexology.
Take a minute and go "like" my podcast fan page at http://budurl.com/LaurensRadioShow and I will mention your name on air in an upcoming podcast.
